Doula | dou·la | /ˌdo͞olə/

Doulas support different types of people through a range of life experiences, including pregnancy, birth, abortion, death, gender transitions and more. People hire doulas to fill a variety of roles. Some doulas have a specific focus, while others provide a range of care. But all doulas advocate for and support their clients in situations where they may feel alone, ignored, or dismissed.

Fertility /
Pre-Conception Doula

A Fertility or Pre-Conception Doula can support you on your pathway to pregnancy and parenthood. Whether you are planning a natural conception or using donated sperm, eggs, or embryos, it can make a difference when you have someone with you throughout this process who offers nonjudgmental support.

Birth Doula

A Birth Doula does not replace your medical provider (like doctors, midwives, and nurses) but can provide invaluable emotional, physical, or educational support to pregnant people during pregnancy, labor or delivery. We advocate for you as you navigate the healthcare system, help ensure your voice is heard and that any medical information you receive is clear and thorough.

Post-Partum Doula

Postpartum Doulas provide support after birth during the new journey into parenthood, even for those who are already parents. Transitioning from pregnancy to parenting can be an isolating transition, and can be especially difficult if you don’t have the chance to process your pregnancy and birth experience, or the new responsibilities that come with your evolving identity as a parent.

Doula Support for Pregnancy Loss

Miscarriages, abortions and fetal demise are forms of pregnancy loss. A doulas is trained to offer physical, mental, emotional support to you and your family, as desired or required. A person may receive doula support through birth and return later in their lives for abortion support, or vice versa. It is important that a person can receive non-judgmental support through both types of experiences.

*Frequency and duration of doula services are determined by a number of factors, including service chosen and your particular needs.
